Earnings season moves into full swing this week, with banks, tech names and Tesla all reporting earnings for their most recent completed quarter. Also on the calendar for the week are flash PMIs for April, along with GDP for China from Q1.

Easter Monday – Bank holiday in UK, France, Germany
3am – China GDP (Q1): expected to rise 3.6% YoY from 4%. Markets to watch: China indices, CNH crosses
Tuesday
2.30am – RBA meeting minutes. Markets to watch: AUD crosses
1.30pm – US housing starts & building permits (March): starts to rise 6% and permits to fall 2%. Markets to watch: USD crosses
Wednesday
12.50am – Japan trade data (March): exports to rise 16% YoY. Markets to watch: JPY crosses
1.30pm – Canada CPI (March): prices to rise 5.9% YoY from 5.7%. Markets to watch: CAD crosses
3pm – US existing home sales (March): sales to rise 1% MoM. Markets to watch: USD crosses
3.30pm – US EIA crude oil inventories (w/e 15 April): stockpiles rose by 9.3 million barrels in the previous week. Markets to watch: Brent, WTI

1.30pm – US initial jobless claims (w/e 16 April), Philadelphia Fed index (April): Philly Fed index to fall to 20.9. Markets to watch: US indices, USD crosses
3pm – eurozone consumer confidence (April): index to rise to -16. Markets to watch: EUR crosses
Friday
12.30am – Japan CPI (March): prices to rise 0.7% YoY. Markets to watch: JPY crosses
7am – UK retail sales (March): sales to rise 0.3% MoM. Markets to watch: GBP crosses
8.30am – Germany PMIs (April, flash): mfg PMI to fall to 56.1. Markets to watch: EUR crosses
9am – eurozone PMIs (April, flash): mfg to fall to 56.2 and services to fall to 55.5. Markets to watch: EUR crosses
9.30am – UK PMIs (April, flash): mfg to fall to 54.5 and services to edge down to 61. Markets to watch: GBP crosses
2.45pm – US PMIs (April, flash): mfg to fall to 57.5 and services to fall to 56.9. Markets to watch: US indices, USD crosses
