Platform Annoyances/Improvements

So, 4 things bug me about the platform as it is, I like the snapping feature, the windows etc, and mostly it's great, but...

1. the "IG Live" window popping up over the deal tab, preventing you from trading until you close it, which cancels your quote if you had one outstanding, or prevents you from selecting "buy" direction. VERY annoying and I would like the option to turn this off, and have it appear somewhere else anyway.

2. Price spikes. If there's a single trade at 1% market value because someone forgot a decimal point (eg on TSCO on 14th April 2020) it makes a really long tain in the candle sticks that rescales the graph whenever you move it, and I have to rescale it. I would like to see the rescaling algorithm avoid including these, perhaps discounting data more than 20% away from the 10EMA for scaling ranges?

3. Vertical scale reference point. as it is I click on the scale and drag up and down to resize. If I click in the top HALF of the bar and drag up it gets bigger, bottom half and up and it drags smaller (and vice-versa). I find myself making it go the wrong way if it's in a trend SO often and it's infuriating. The method is fine, but the reference point should be at the last traded price (perhaps 5 EMA), not the centre of the screen. i.e. say a market is trending upwards and the scale runs from 50 to 100, last price at 90, if I click on 80-85 and drag down, I want it to scale bigger around 90, to perhaps 70-100. As it is, I would have to click in the bottom half, below 75. Perhaps an option to choose the reference point for scaling would be a good addition, but I certainly think the middle is not instinctive at all.

4. Warnings about restricted markets on your account being available BEFORE you place an order. Such as "this is a complex instrument..." etc. I tried to place a trade on a 3x short of the S&P500 (which would have been a winner, begrudgingly), I worked out my exposure, price targets, resistance levels, margin, risk, stop level and target prices and profits, waited for an indeal price action to enter, AND.... *click place order* "This is a complex instrument and cannot be traded from your account". :P Honestly, I do understand the logic for restricting accounts from using these instruments from the outset, but instead of wasting 15 mins of my time (and this has happened a few times), I would rather it just show a warning on the deal tab "Complex instrument: Call IG Helpdesk on X" etc, in the same way it says a market has been suspended, or is available for trade on leverage accounts only.

Hope this is useful feedback and some of it can be implemented to make this platform even better!

Thanks!

    • Maybe IG have decided that with such exceptional demand, they don't need to worry about long term clients.  The exceptional mob will not be around for the long haul.  As a result of what IG have done, long term clients may not be around for the long haul either.
    • Charlotte, we keep seeing the message that's it's small caps that have been withdrawn. It isn't.  For example, Hikma has a market cap of £5.2bn and is in the FTSE100. How do we know which other companies IG might decide to do the same to? We are also told that it's due to exceptional client demand. In that case, limit new opening positions (buy and sell). Why should we long-term clients suffer due to this?
    • Hey,  I completely understand your frustration and I will pass it onto our senior team as well as the exposure desk.  The decisions has been made but I'm so sorry for how it's impacting your trading. With exceptional client demand in the equity space, we have reviewed our 12000 leveraged markets and decided to withdraw less than 1000 small cap equities, after a review of associated returns on these markets. We will continue to support these markets for Share Dealing, where that product is available. Sorry again for this inconvenience.  All the best
