Absolute beginner needs to sell shares

Can someone pls give me the idiots guide to selling shares 101?  I have UK shares but I live overseas so online selling is not an option (because I cannot provide the residence docs if they ask for them, although I still have a UK bank account).  The shares are currently registered (managed?) by Equiniti.  Do I have to sell them through Equiniti?  If I don't, then how do I choose someone else?  Have around 16k sterling at today's price so not a massive deal, and have no intention of buying more.  Any recommendations gratefully received.
