Can anyone tell me what are the times that are available/open at IG to purchase shares?

Thanks

Hi, it will depend on the exchange where those shares are available. Check the exchange opening times for your selection.

well, here in the uk its 8.00AM. BUT, many many times i have tried to trade immediately after 8.00 and have never been successfull! often met with message such as market not currently open. normally have to wait till 8.06 or 8.07 for it to respond! makes me angry, especially when you want to take advantage of a good rise or good price to sell.

Thanks JLZ,

I am a greenhorn when it comes down to this stuff. Where do I find the exchange opening times to check the selection? Also are the spread bets times for selling different. Strange that IG seems to be closed all the time, I mean the last 20 or so times I went in they were not open

As an example you can take Barclays PLC.

You will need to google something like: "Barclays PLC stock exchange"
That stock is traded at the "London Stock Exchange"
Then you can google: "London Stock Exchange opening hours" and will return pages like the one below:
https://www.tradinghours.com/exchanges/lse/trading-hours

    • My brain isn't working properly any more
    • I would says so, unless you are dealing with short time frames and large sums of money and you are able to be glued to the screen 100% of the time and give it your full attention.
    • So that's a bearish candle, after an up move that's running out of steam (with small read bodies and long legs), falling back down towards established Fibonacci levels, with a MACD crossing from above 0 and RSI below 50     At one point I had the RSI set to 9, and that additionally gives an overbought divergence (price goes higher but RSI doesn't).  This also gives a nice oversold indication when the move down is coming to an end
