Is day trading allowed on IG Australia?

Recommended Posts

Hi IG community! I live in Australia and I’m still new in trading and slowly I am learning the ropes and doing swing trades at the moment. I trade US stocks and stay up all night since the time zones are opposite and I am wondering if I can do day trading? I have been looking for a straight answer for my question in this forum for days and the IG support team has not responded yet to my enquiry.

Could somebody please confirm if day trading US stocks in Australia is allowed and my account will not get flagged or restricted? Is there a some sort of knowledge based article in the IG help section that states that day trading is allowed or with conditions? Thanks everyone!

    • Yeah I can see that - from experience if the 50% level is going to work it'll go through in 1-3 attempts at most which means you can afford a tight stop, but you can use the swing low point, whatever suits you
    • I guess i do it because i see the low point as relative safety and assume the market won't go through it, but this can make the distance from my entry to the low point quite large and hence potential R smaller.  I'll take a look back to see how a % of ATR might have faired. cheers
