LONDON — The U.K. government could be poised to announced more Covid restrictions for England amid concerns over the spread of the omicron variant, according to a report in the Financial Times on Wednesday.

The paper, which cited three unnamed senior Whitehall officials, said the sources had told the newspaper that the government had decided to implement its so-called “Plan B” of increased restrictions, including vaccine passports for large venues and an order to work from home.

The new restrictions could be announced at a press conference as early as Wednesday with regulations laid before Parliament on Thursday, according to government insiders speaking to the paper.

Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE said initial lab studies show a third dose of their Covid-19 vaccine neutralizes the omicron variant, results that will accelerate booster shot drives around the world. 

A booster with the current version of the vaccine raises antibodies 25-fold, providing a similar level as observed after two doses against the original virus and other variants, the companies said. So-called T-cells still provide protection against severe illness, they said.

Please step back for a moment and think about what you are posting here and how if your "research" persuades just one person to not get the vaccine and they die, how would you feel then?

It might seem clever and amusing to you but it's not without consequences.

 

Not that I'm disputing the mathematics behind your hypothetical study, but at a fundamental level, if the event rate is low, then what is that inferring about the malignancy of the virus in the control group?

Extending that, if you want to talk about consequences, I would suggest that seeking to subject the entire population to a 'medicine' that has had little more than cursory exposure to the normal regulatory checks and procedures raises the potential for a consequence that goes far beyond individual calamity to global catastrophe. In some circumstances I could understand the need for such reckless abandon, but for covid (ADE induced variants or not), I would say it is sheer madness.

But maybe you are right. Maybe all the reports of sportsmen collapsing, cardiac problems, vaccine ADE, and all the rest of it is indeed nothing. But at the very least (especially given the scarcity of proper long term trials done on these vaccines) these reports should be thoroughly investigated as a potential red flag rather than just charge on regardless injecting everything in sight at an ever increasing frequency in the (vain) hope that these coronaviruses will magically disappear (not done so well this far has it, in fact the situation seems strangely akin to what was predicted by those vaccine ADE conspiracy nutters). And when I say investigated, I mean properly investigated, and if it is by the Pharma companies themselves, then insist that they display their faith in the safety of their own products, rather than allow them to hide behind governmental waivers of liability.

Looking specifically at covid, in the latest UK data, compare the ratio of vaxxed/unvaxxed and the ratio in cases, hospitalisations and deaths. The vaccines seem to be doing nothing at all. (see UKHSA data chart posted yesterday)

So what response from govts? Why more vaccinations of course, every 3 months why not. And mandates and forced jabs if necessary. Every time they are proved wrong the WEF political representatives (Biden, Johnson, Ursula von der Leyen etc) have always doubled down. Start a witch hunt, use the bought msm to bomb the serfs with fake news it's the unvaxxed in the hospitals, drum up the mass psychosis.

The FDA - not the drug companies, the drug companies don't care, the drug companies have total indemnity, the drug companies have already walked away with all the money.

When the govts signed the vaccine contracts they took on all liability, now they want all the files suppressed. The judge said no, you will drip feed them slowly to the public. The first batch came out and guess what, important data has been redacted. The govt really really really does not want you to see those files. 

 

Reminder that at it's worst, of those who caught covid and had actual symptoms 90% were described as 'mild' and less than 1% died, the far majority being elderly with at least 3 comorbidities (similar data as the flu). Also note that all through 2020 they were not actually being treated with anything because we were all told we had to wait for the vaccines. 🙄

LONDON — The rise of omicron Covid cases in the U.K. is on such steep trajectory that the country has been told to brace for one million cases by the end of the month.

The UK Health Security Agency said Wednesday that omicron is displaying a significant growth advantage over the delta variant, “meaning that it is likely to outcompete delta in the U.K. and become the dominant variant.”

GENEVA (Reuters) - The World Health Organization's (WHO) vaccine advisory panel recommends that people who are immunocompromised or received an inactivated vaccine should receive a booster dose of a COVID-19 shot, the head of the panel said on Thursday.

The recommendation comes after the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on immunisation held a meeting on Tuesday to evaluate the need for COVID-19 boosters.

Two-dose vaccines induce lower antibodies against Omicron, study finds

(Reuters) -Two-dose COVID-19 vaccine regimens do not induce enough neutralising antibodies against the Omicron coronavirus variant, British scientists found, indicating that increased infections in those previously infected or vaccinated may be likely.

Researchers from the University of Oxford published results on Monday from a study yet to be peer-reviewed, where they analysed blood samples from participants who were given doses from AstraZeneca-Oxford or Pfizer-BioNTech in a large study looking into mixing of vaccines.

The results come a day after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned that two shots will not be enough to contain Omicron, following findings from the UK health agency last week that boosters significantly restore protection against the variant.

 

The Oxford study said that there was no evidence yet that the lower level of infection-fighting antibodies against Omicron could lead to higher risk of severe disease, hospitalisation or death in those who have got two doses of approved vaccines.

"These data are important but are only one part of the picture. They only look at neutralising antibodies after the second dose, but do not tell us about cellular immunity, and this will also be tested," said Matthew Snape, Oxford professor and co-author of the paper.

Covid booster shots are “optimal care” as the deadly virus continues to mutate and spread, but the U.S. government is staying firm for the time being on the definition of fully vaccinated, top U.S. infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday.

Currently, two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech or the Moderna vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine provide full vaccination. Health officials will continue to evaluate whether that definition needs to change, Fauci said on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos.”

 

“I think if you look at the data, the more and more it becomes clear that if you want to be optimally protected you really should get a booster,” Fauci said. “It’s the optimal care.”

The push for booster shots comes in tandem with the rise in cases of the omicron coronavirus variant. Twenty-five states so far have detected the variant, Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a Friday briefing. Officials expect that number to continue to rise.

It’s still too early to tell what the long-term impacts of the virus are, but early data suggests those who contract the omicron variant experience mild illness. Vulnerable patients who are older, unvaccinated or have underlying conditions have a much higher risk of developing severe disease, Maria Van Kerkhove, the World Health Organization’s technical lead on Covid-19, said in a press briefing.

As of Sunday, the U.S. was approaching 800,000 coronavirus-related deaths.

The new variant has pushed some government officials to reinstate health restrictions to slow the spread. On Monday, New York will implement its statewide mask mandate, which requires protective face coverings to be worn in public places and businesses, unless proof of vaccination is required.

50 thousand people died in December 2018 from Flu or Pn related disease in the UK alone.

England & Wales deaths involving Influenza and Pneumonia were 29,516 for the WHOLE of 2018, so it can't be 50,000 just for December.

Also, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make, should we just ignore one cause of death as 29k people died from something else a few years ago?

That ONS data is false (and not for the first time), don't know about Dec 2018 but see below for January 2018 (64,000 deaths) in the pandemic of 2017/18. Not sure about December 2017 but may well have been 50,000.

Winter excess deaths are always collated as the winter season ??/?? and not as year start to end.
