US Dollar Price, Chart, and Analysis

  • The latest FOMC minutes confirmed that inflation remains the central bank’s priority.
  • The longer-term ascending channel will steer the USD higher.

US Dollar (DXY) Forecast – Longer-Term Trend Remains in Play

The minutes of the January 26 FOMC meeting highlighted the central bank’s concern over the current level of inflation in the US but disappointed the market by giving no new clues, or a timetable, on the path and pace of interest rate hikes and balance sheet reduction. The minutes noted that ‘a significant reduction in the size of the balance sheet would likely be appropriate’ while a couple of members favored ending asset purchases sooner rather than later to ‘send a stronger signal that the Committee was committed to bringing down inflation’. Inflation was seen to be spreading throughout the economy and continued to exceed the central bank’s longer-term projections. While the minutes had a slightly hawkish overtone, financial markets have already priced in a series of interest rate hikes this year. The market pricing of a 50 basis point hike at the next Fed meeting in March continues to swing around with the likelyhood now seen around 50% after having been nearly fully priced in last week.

The US dollar drifted lower post-FOMC but remains in a dominant ascending channel that has been in force since mid-June last year. The multi-month series of higher lows and higher highs remain in place. Within this ascending channel there is a sideways trading range that has remained in force despite a couple of failed breakouts. A support zone between 95.10 and 95.50 should provide short-term support, allowing the USD to re-test the February 14 high at 96.38.

    • One project that caught my eye in this space is called DogeMob. At first glance, it may seem like just another Doge spinoff or meme token. However, after digging a bit deeper, DogeMob actually has some intriguing aspects worth highlighting.   A notable point is the rapid community growth to over 11,000 members on Telegram. That's quite impressive traction for a memecoin project, signaling an engaged community rallying behind DogeMob.   While leaning into the memecoin culture with its branding, DogeMob does have some utility baked in. It's positioning itself as a community-governed token where holders can participate in voting. Additionally, there are plans to integrate the token into a web3 game, which could provide novel use cases.   From a security standpoint, DogeMob has had its smart contract audited and implemented KYC processes. So despite the meme-inspired nature, it appears they are taking compliance seriously as a legitimate crypto project.   Overall, DogeMob combines elements of playful memecoin culture with some practical crypto innovations around governance and gaming utilities. For those interested in dog-themed meme tokens, DogeMob may be worth researching further based on its roadmap and dedicated community. However, it's still important to maintain reasonable expectations as with any memecoin project.
    • DogeMob is a meme coin platform that merges the fun of memes with real cryptocurrency advancements. It has a strong community of over 11,000 members and aims to be a community-driven digital asset with practical uses. To achieve this, DogeMob is close to launching its web3 game, adding new features to its token and integrating entertainment with practical applications. This will enhance user experience and engagement. DogeMob also empowers its community through a strong governance model where token holders play a key role in shaping the project's future. Security is a priority, with a fully audited smart contract and a strict KYC process.   With a Bitget listing on the horizon, I believe DogeMob is a memecoin to keep an eye on.
    • We want to hire a team to develop a trading app and need to decide whether to launch it on iOS, Android, or both. But we're a bit meh regarding the development practices between these two, and we need to allocate resources in a smart way, as it's an app that'll have a pretty limited used base anyway.  Also, we're considering using Atlassian products for managing the entire development process. How effective are their tools for managing cross-platform app dev projects like these?
