Can't create API key - "Key name already used. You have already used this name for another key"

AlphaBob

Question

Hi,

Just joined, my account is approved, demo account setup, but I can't create an API key for live nor demo accounts, no matter what I try I get the same error message

"Key name already used. You have already used this name for another key"

I've tried several different browsers on my mac(Safari, Chrome, Firefox) and a fresh install of Opera that I've never used before so no caching issues,  I've tried 2 browsers on my mobile, I've tried my Windows work laptop and I always get the same error message, even though I have no API keys setup. I've tried changing the name, nothing seems to work. VPNs turned off

For techheads, on Mac Firefox I get a "400 Bad Request"

with a request of

acceptsTermsConditions   true
apiKeyName   "backtest"

and a response of

errorCode    "error.user.management.gateway.invalid.request"
errorMessage   "ApiKey creation failed."

I haven't checked the request/response from other browsers, I'm too fed up now.

Anybody any ideas?

Cheers

Hi @ontour,

Welcome to the IG community and thank you for your question.

Please note that you can only have one API key for each environment. Should you wish to create a new one, you will have to delete or disable the currently active key.

Hi @KoketsoIG

Thank you for responding. Do you know how I can find what the name key and API key is of any existing key? I haven't created one prior to this but if IG Markets already creates one for me how can I find its details?

Thank you

    • The Ethereum network, while groundbreaking, has faced well-documented scalability challenges. To address these limitations, a plethora of layer-2 solutions have emerged, each with its unique approach to improving transaction throughput and reducing fees. Many projects, such as Optimism and Arbitrum, have made strides in reducing fees and improving transaction speeds, yet Zircuit, promising new entrant in the zk-rollup space, employs a hybrid architecture that combines these attributes with strong security protocols at the sequencer level. Zircuit, backed by funding from industry giants like Binance Lab and Pantera etc, leverages the latest advancements in zero-knowledge proof technology to offer a high-performance, low-cost, and secure solution. They have since unveiled Mainnet Phase 1 and enabled $ZRC token claims for early adopters.  Moving forward, Zircuit has achieved considerable success, hitting a peak TVL of $3.7 billion. it will be interesting to see how Zircuit perform on both it's $ZRC pre-market sales on Bitget and also if ZK rollups ultimately become the dominant scaling solution for Ethereum?
    • Ever noticed how Telegram's becoming the new arcade? It's wild! These mini games are popping up everywhere, and they're not just your usual candy-crushing stuff. Take RoOLZ for example - it's this cool anime-style game that's got me hooked, especially if you're into shows like Demon Slayer or Attack on Titan like I am. What makes it interesting is how it's different from regular mobile games. You're not just playing alone, there's this whole community thing going on. Plus, you get to own cool digital collectibles from your favorite anime scenes. It's like having trading cards, but for the digital age! Think of it as having a tiny pocket sized anime world where you can play, collect stuff, and maybe even earn some tokens while you're at it. Those tokens earned; $GODL are totally transferable to exchanges.  Bitget even has a zero gas fee event on your deposit. Sure, some people are in it hoping to make a fortune with telegram mini games, but let's be real, the best way to enjoy these games is to just have fun! My suggestion: If you're jumping in on any telegram game, do it for the fun first.  What do you think? Have you tried any Telegram mini games yet?
    • Stumbled onto $weETH recently, and it’s got me thinking. It’s more than just staking ETH for rewards weETH also restakes automatically in EigenLayer, so you’re maximizing yield without extra effort. What really caught my eye, though, is how they’ve designed it to keep everything in your control with non-custodial staking.  Add in some perks like loyalty points and compatibility with DeFi protocols on Arbitrum and Polygon, and it’s set up to go beyond the usual staking.  Anyone else looking at $weETH? Worth it, or just another token in the mix?
