"Ethereum Co-founder Vitalik Buterin Raises Red Flags Over Worldcoin's 'Digital Passport' Vision"

Recommended Posts

Worldcoin recently launched its "Digital Passport," World ID, utilizing eye-scanning machines called Orbs for human identity verification. However, Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin has flagged four significant issues with the project.

Firstly, privacy concerns arise due to the potential collection of sensitive data, such as ****, ethnicity, and medical conditions, through iris scanning.

Secondly, the limited availability of Orbs poses a challenge to the accessibility of World IDs, making it hard for everyone to obtain one.

Thirdly, centralization is a worry, as malicious manufacturers could exploit compromised Orbs to create fake human identities.

Lastly, security issues emerge when AI-generated photos or 3D prints of fake people are mistakenly approved, and there is a risk of World IDs being sold, rented, or lost due to phone hacking.

To overcome these challenges, Buterin suggests Worldcoin may need to collaborate with other projects to develop a robust proof-of-personhood system. However, he cautions that achieving this won't be quick and might take years to find a suitable solution.

Meanwhile,Worldcoin's native token WLD has been launched on several exchanges including Bitget & it's quite easy to grab it from there.

While Vitalik's suggestion might be worth considering, the team's ideas are, if the worldcoin technology works as described, scanning your iris does not link your iris to your ”world id” or your financial transactions. No pictures of your eyeball scans are stored anywhere (allegedly). According to the project team, a zkp is used to prove that you belong to the set of unlinked iris codes.

I suggest users should hold their $WLD token on reputable platforms with decent protective funds like Bitget cos this is gonna be a long ride as we await the project team to restore potential investor confidence including Vitalik,

For now, hodling WLD is the better option I guess... The team needs to figure out the solution to gain enough reputation. Which exchange are you using to accumulate WLD?

The question is do we really need world ID and how confident are you that your ID isn't stored somewhere or linked to your transactions to track you financial activities? All these begging questions defies the principle of true decentralization and I wasn't surprised seeing Countries and Influencers criticizing the project.

It's still in it formative stage and expect the team to address these issues. Tho, the 2.1 million people already using the app is an unprecedented feat that have also convinced me to buy some of the token

Well, for now I think the best thing will be to get in on WLD on CEX while the team keeps up with the development. I'm sure they'll find a solution with time. Bitget has listed it along side other exchanges and I believe for it to be listed, traders are safe trading it rather than waiting till everything is perfect. Let's keep an eye on it as we watch them take necessary actions.

Actually massive growth is waiting! If Sam Altman fixes those issues by bringing more transparency, WILD is gonna go wild, that's why I'm DCAing WILD at Bitget.

Most of the metaverse projects are still under development but it had a good run right? But WLD have developed a lot, let's wait for fixing the issues & we'll be ready to adopt their ecosystem ya.

    • Basically, they've renamed the BitKeep wallet to BitgetWallet while megaswap to Bitgetswap😑...!   Most of the wallets have that inbuilt swap features but only a few reputable centralised exchanges have that feature!
    • Almost perfectly said! Especially, diversification & risk appetite factor worked great for me! Imagine, having -300% with 20x Lev😑. Still didn't close that trade after gaining+200%! Tho high lev isn't recommended, but I've just shared my personal experience as an example of risk appetite!  End of the day, experience & self confidence matters at crypto(For most of the people).
