There’s a good news section on the new platform which is so good for news on things which aren’t a priority on the regular news outlets (oil, gold etc). You can navigate by asset type / soft commods etc.

I'm not sure what to make of these charts. Corn is sitting about it's historic base so plenty of room to the upside though has been a bit jumpy with the China tariffs drama over the last few days.

The charts look very cyclic with price rising in the first half of each year then falling away in the second half and the news section tells us the US midwest farmers are able to exercise an OPEC style release/withhold to manipulate price when they see fit which also confuses the picture.

The sell side looks the more consistent and presumably in tune with the affect of the weather on the timing of the crop harvest.

    • *parp!*  Ooh what's that smell!
    • Using Spread bet is not suitable for scalping in my view , you get filled and exit at a poor price and its hard to cover a spread. Depends on what your definition of a 'scalp'  is though   Share dealing is  a lot better for US stocks (no fees) but you need the capital and can only go long.
    • The point Rayner was making is if you only have a five point target and your win rate is not very high it is probably not a viable strategy.
