What happens if our shares custodian /nominee goes bust?

Guest WA1

Question

From IG forums:

  • If IG were to become insolvent, the stock would still be in your name and wholly owned by yourself.

Anyone know what happens if the custodian /nominee of our shares (Citi) goes bust? Will we get our ASX shares for certain?

    • Hi The Alerts do not function or can be edited the same as it is in the old platform. THAT will be a real turn off for me. It's been a long while that alerts do not function the same (ie the editing of alerts). I'll be looking elsewhere if that function is not fixed pronto. Hope you get onto it.
    • If every expert is suggesting that the Bitcoin price will only increase in the long run and as it becomes more and more scarce, isn't it a guaranteed way to make money? Why shouldn't everyone invest all their money if that's the case? And if it's true, where does this money coming from and what impacts it have on the economy?
    • Hi @KoketsoIG, Thanks for investigating margin requirements in another thread. Could you kindly check with the relevant team what overnight credit (column swap bid in platform watchlists) was applied for short USD/TRY positions at the end of the trading day on Thu, March 14? WBR
