Gold Heading For 1276.61

Recommended Posts

If you like to trade gold its looking good to me right now. Take a look at this H4 chart showing a potential high to sell with a clear stop at 1289. a break above that could be a signal to reverse and go long.xauusd-h4-ig-group-limited.png

It wouldn't be unreasonable to add the high from Feb to your trendline.

@Caseynotes

I know what you mean, but that would be horizontal resistance not trend. I am looking to sell the current trend as shown on my chart if that trend breaks maybe I could look to that high as a long term bull target.

@Caseynotes

Just my opinion but not a reliable source. There was a big sell-off at the breakout so I think it may be a false break.

@Foxy  interesting, you may well be right,  the sell off started before the US market open as well.

IG seems to have a 'bullish bias' towards buying gold.  JN often has guests on talking about the 'inevitability' of gold rising.  🤣

@dmedin

Every time I've seen IG broadcasts they have got it wrong, so I no longer bother with it!!

Gold seems to be the main mover this morning, heading down currently at 1283, has tendline support on H1 just below and key  support on the Daily at 1266.

Looks like a strong breakout today 😎

Need to wait a day or two to see if it has legs.

Very much back to risk on today, Dow up, dollar up, oil up, bonds down and gold heading back to 1280.

Question is, will you 'put your money where your mouth is' and place a bet on it going to 1280?

😁

Can't trade everything @dmedin but no matter what you do trade you always need to know what gold is doing.

That's a nice thought but I doubt that the likes or you or I will ever really 'own' gold.  If the world descends into chaos, do you think the governments of the world will let you drive up to the fortified bunkers where the gold is stored and take your gold out?  I will try and read that report though it seems very naieve.  :D

Some big claims being made for gold right now.  These tend to crop up and reappear on the internet quite frequently.  Interesting, IG was originally called Investors Gold and came about after the international gold standard was abolished.  :)

Gold starts red and looks to be checking Tuesday's low 1276, could provide relief for the indices.

Gold has rallied the last couple of hours, now at 1281 hence the indices reluctance to move forward.

    • https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/when-performance-matters%3A-nasdaq-100-vs.-sp-500-second-quarter-20-2020-07-13 should look similar with GICS - i.e. NDX underweight (vs SPX)to Financials (incl. RE), Energy, Materials and Utilities together roughly 25%... and those went kinda nowhere over the more or less recent past...:     ...of course this is rather superficial, but (together with comparisons posted earlier) suggests really exactly two - closely linked - segments in global asset markets have been trending (up) recent years:  US large cap tech and consumer (incl. Healthcare) stocks.   ...apparently a significant share of all the money printed globally this period  seems to eventually somehow have found its way into these highly concentrated segments...
    • I know relative to some brokers (who are taking the absolute $%&*) IG fx conversion fee of 0.5% is okay, however its still an absolute joke that they and the industry can get away with this flagrant ripping off of customers. I would like to know if IG have any plans to reduce their conversion fee ( trading US stocks in an ISA) to compete with others such as Trading212 who don't charge fx fees at all.... I have a moderate account with substantial turnover, like others I know, I'm now considering transferring my account to 212 as I cant see any justification for such high fx conversion fees now its been shown thats its possible to remove them al together... Perhaps 0.1% to cover costs would be understandable, but 0.5% so 1% round trip on trading any size is ridiculous. I easily give IG thousands, if not tens of thousands a yr in fx fees...
    • Hey,  Unfortunately in Singapore we don't offer a non-leveraged account. We offer these types of accounts to other clients in other countries but not for Singapore.   Apologies for the inconvenience.
