We launched IG Smart Portfolios two years ago. It's not been an easy time to invest, but performance is pleasing nonetheless.

As an added benefit, for any clients that are infrequent share dealers (or indeed are seeking a diversified portfolio) we don't charge any quarterly custody fees for those who invest £15,000 or more.

I'm hoping you can help, I opened an ISA account to buy shares, but have just discovered IG's minimum consideration fee is 90 pounds when I place an order On Exchange rather than On Quote.

I have 4000 pounds remaining to buy shares for my ISA and would like to buy 4000 pounds worth of shares in one company, but I'm being blocked from buying due to the consideration fee amounting to a total of 52 pounds and not their minimum 90 pounds.

What options are there?

Should I be placing an order On Quote rather than On Exchange?

Hi Novice27 - I'm not entirely sure what's happened here. We don't set a 'minimum fee' of £90.

It might be the case that your trade value (including stamp duty, and IG commissions) is exceeding your cash balance.

If you're still having problems please contact our help desk for a resolution.

    • Another gloomy session for stocks saw the Hang Seng drop by 3% as it played catch-up following Monday's holiday, and the Nikkei down by more than 1.7%. A hawkish speech by Fed governor Michelle Bowman yesterday and comments from others reminded investors that the Fed is committed to leaving rates unchanged, negating any positive sentiment lingering from the weekend funding deal for the US government. While tech stocks eked out some small gains yesterday, most indices remain under pressure. FX markets are on intervention watch following more comments from officials in Japan about the weakness of the yen. Today sees the monthly US job opening figures, as a warm-up to the ADP and non-farm payroll figures later in the week. A weaker open is expected for European and US markets.

    • I have recently researched cryptocurrency exchange tokens with good potential that would be a profitable investment for the upcoming bull market. This is what I found so far. 1. Binance's token BNB, BNB is the biggest exchange token and has done well over the years. However, its performance this year has not been great and it currently trades at over $200. 2. OKX's token, OKB, is trading at over $40 and has performed very well in 2023. It may be a good addition to our portfolio for the upcoming bull market. 3. Bitget's token, BGB. The BGB daily chart looks fascinating and it currently trades around $0.40. Based on the exchange's growth in 2023, BGB seems to be the most promising exchange token I have researched. I will continue to research other exchange tokens, but for now, I would like to know your thoughts on these tokens.
