Shorting (EUFN) - iShares Eu Financials ETF

Recommended Posts

Hey gang.

Just asking if it's possible to allow me to short EUFN -  (iShares MSCI Eu Financials ETF).

and

EWQ -  (iShares MSCI France ETF).

if not is there another vehicle I can use to short either of these.

As always Thanks for your help.

@h7,

You may wish to consider 'shorting' this via IG's UK Spread Betting platform. I have just checked and it appears on IG's UK Spread Betting platform.

I just had a look at the chart and it seems that the big downward move has already occurred. It may well continue moving downwards but just be careful that when you short this that the trade does not go against you pretty quickly.

EUFN  is currently unborrowable I'm afraid. If you wanted to give us a call we can try and find borrow in the market, however we'd only be able to look to do this over the phone (and unfortunately there is no guarantee we'll be able to find borrow from our liquidity providers).

Yes you can short on the spreadbetting platform.....interestingly I was only yesterday thinking is it viable to trade the price of an ETF (longterm trade!) rather than invest in it to avoid any future tax liability (as profits from spread betting are tax free).....I live in IRE and tax liability on ETFs is very complicated (and large!)......Good luck anyway!

    • I am kicking myself for not trading the breakout of gold now My thinking now is that I'd like to see 1346 established as support and go long from there.  It's pretty obvious (now, with benefit of hindsight) that the May selloff on the indices was a relatively shallow retracement of an uptrend, so gold will probably be stuck in the doldrums again for some time.
    • 👍🏾Yes let us see and it will certainly be interesting as from a trading perspective It could start to get rather tricky with all the potential uncertainty floating around. This may benefit the price of Gold and Bonds but if the Fed lowers interest rates then you could be right.
