Metal Trading

Question

Hi there

New to trading metals and wanted to understand a bit more about the spot and futures pricing. I'll make the question in sections so it is easier to answer.

1) For base metals it seems only HG Copper has a futures and spot option. Does this mean there are no futures trading for the other metals? Or is the spot price derived from the LME 3 Month Futures Price?

2) Are there expiry dates on the spot prices and is there overnight funding for spot? (I am aware futures do not have overnight funding but are embedded into the spreads).

3) If there is overnight funding or an expiry date will they be displayed on the trade?

    • No the share dealing account is subject to tax. You will need to make a seperate application for an ISA and it will appear.
    • Hello, my 2 pence worth, On markets like the FTSE it would be good to have an option to switch off the simulated candles, I.e only between 0800 and 1630 being displayed.  The trading out of hours is not for me and I find it quite tiresome having to trawl through the charts of simulated candles. Second pence worth, When IG tv launches it brings up a box over the deal ticket and has on numerous occasions caused me to miss the moment to place trade, Same when a trade is closed due to hitting limits or stop losses. I either have to manually  click on the X to close before I place a trade. Really really frustrating. Apart from this I am happy with IG and the service I have received to date. I am not on IG's payroll lol
    • We all think at some point that we are important enough, so the "market" is against us.  The reality is that if we use the same indicator chances are that we will land in the same range of prices so we will be part of the same cloud of orders.
