You mean landlords specifically or just non workers like, oh I don't know, pensioners?

I don't believe that pensioners should have to live off savings.  They should get a pension from the state (or better, from their employers) that allows them to live in dignity.

But the pension is paid for by assets in the fund so same same...  Still not seeing the point of your original post.

Rentiers like investors or, oh I don't know, Traders?

A rentier, you know, someone who lives off high interest rates or landed property.  They extract money by virtue of having money, and prevent money being used for productive things.

Sounds like the Fed... 😝

Although your use of the phrase High interest rates is pejorative, surely it is just interest...  Been the case since the dawn of money anyway, high or not, so what are you advocating exactly?

Free and easy money.  The worst thing is people having nothing to do, buildings being empty, machinery unused, and everyone feeling miserable.

On that at least we can agree.  And the new economy titans in the shape of Suckerberg (sic) thinks paying everyone basic is a good idea...  Just so he can hold on to his!

So UK wages are back at pre "crisis" (ha they will run out of superlatives for the coming storm!) levels.  And yet retail is struggling and no one can afford to buy a home.  HSBC are the latest mega firm to announce job cuts, I wonder if it has anything to do with rising wages...  Of just the fact that banks can't make any money within a ZIRP/NIRP environment...  Coronavirus is the blame du jour for missing targets and while the world is going to hell in a handcart a property firm is telling it's staff that they cannot expense meat in meals.  Never mind the meek inheriting the Earth now it is the vegans..  "Head of values team"?  No wonder these firms can't make any profit!  The world has officially gone mad, sell everything!

The pain and suffering could be just starting for millions of people.

Although key sectors such as housing have begun to show signs of a rebound, analysts have warned that the mini-boom could go bust once the government’s jobs subsidy programme closes in less than three months’ time and a tax cut expires at the end of March.

    • Hi @Nate,  Unfortunately, purchasing Gold on IG isn't available, even if it's digital gold that you can buy, hold, and later sell for updated rates. However, with IG, you can trade Gold on our CFD and Spreadbet platforms using Leverage/Margin and capitalize on price differences. You have the option for spot trading or trading futures, holding positions as long as you have sufficient funds to cover your Margin. It's important to note that with spot trading, you'll incur daily interest fees for the leverage used, whereas futures trading doesn't involve additional interest fees as they are covered within our spread.  I agree that storing gold like Smaug isn't always ideal. You have to constantly worry about Dwarves, Elves, or even Hobbits! Jokes aside, you can research how to trade commodities on our platform with leverage and decide what suits you best. All the best, AshishIG
