Problem with Charts. Defaulting to 5 min charts.

My charts seem to be working fine now.

However, I am very concerned with system stability during times of high volatility/volume. It seems that the IG systems can't cope and nothing seems to have been done to address this since the last outage.

An explanation of what happened and action being taken is long overdue.

Can you help? @CharlotteIG

This happened yesterday and once the markets closed, analytics were reinstated. This morning all analytics have been removed again and charts default to 5 mins.

I got this eMail from them yesterday - have contacted them again today to ask why they don't want customers to trade on volatile markets.

Due to high traffic on the site we had to prioritise dealing over analysis.  In order to maintain good execution we disabled some of the chart analysis tools. We hope to enable it again after the UK market close but it will depend on platform traffic. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks for your email.

im facing the same issue on my browser platform. Always reverting back to 5mins candlesticks with my previously drawn lines gone.

It started yesterday around the time of US opening, and subsequently the whole platform went down.

I'm also having this problem. Enquiries to support have previously resulted in pointle3ss tinkering with settings in google chrome. I note that there has been no response from them to this thread which is pretty poor

Its Virtually impossible to trade with this charting platform. As soon as you draw the  supply and demand levels on the Charts the analysis wiped out. Missing out on great trading opportunities.

This chart issue stinks, IG take money off you when you're winning, they take money from you when you're losing and then guess what .......... make it almost impossible for you to trade at other times too,

IG, I pay you for a broker service , provide the service i pay you for and have set up.

Guess what, GoMarkets havent removed their charting analyticals or chart drawings, they answer their phones too !!

Mine appear to be working fine now. But I dont see why tech support cant be bothered to respond to my message or post to this forum. Makes it pointless other than to check whether or not it's your own pc that's gone wonky

Hey everyone,

Massive apologies for this issue. The chart issue should now be resolved.

After speaking with the technical team they have confirmed that we couldn't operate whilst keeping the personalised settings.

@CharlotteIG,

Even I am getting the same error of charts defaulting to 5 mins which is pretty annoying. This has been occurring for a while now and prior to the recent extreme volatility in prices.

Would IG be kind enough to explain the reason this is happening? Once they have done this can they offer a solution to this specific problem with potential timescales for resolution?

I will speak with the dealing desk to get a sufficient explanation on what happened yesterday/ this morning.

Thank you for letting me know. I will inform the technical team.

    • hahaha, and now ... Dylan Davidson @dyl_davidson Holy ****, on the day Biden is sworn in, WHO advises laboratories around the world to reduce the cycle count in PCR Covid testing, which will result in fewer positives!!  WHO Information Notice for IVD Users 2020/05   If you have been reading the thread you will know the high cycle threshold in use for the PCR was a major cause of the very high ratio of false positives (50 - 80%) (if you haven't already have a listen to the 16 min podcast (linked in quoted post) where Harvard Prof explains the different uses for the PCR and the Lateral Flow tests and why we should be using the quick and cheap LFT).
    • I seem to remember reading somewhere that over a certain limit the buying and selling fees are no longer a flat fee and become a percentage of the sale/purchase. Is this true and if so what are the limits and how does one buy or sell above a certain value? I'm talking specifically about equities.  Couldn't find any information on this so any guidance would be welcome. Thanks!
    • I really trade! Here is a trade from this week - The Market is an ETF of the Nasdaq100 Index provided by ishares - CNX1 This was a 2 day Swing trade If you've read the above posts then this is a clear DOUBLE BOTTOM following all the rules mentioned in the posts above ENTRY - Entry was actually set for the high of the Inside bar but the market gapped up and opened at the GREEN horizontal line! which was fine As you can see the DB caused a classic W shape if fulfilled - 2RSI in the <25% Oversold zone = 1 high probability trade potential with target of the swing high of the long leg of the W - as you can see price hit that level this afternoon for a healthy return - This provided a 2R return, "IF" (and we have no control over this) I'd of been triggered in at the high of the Inside bar as planned rather than the gapped entry, the R:R was 4R if stop placed at the swing low or 11R if entry was high of the narrow range IB and stop was at the low of it! - Now in this trade - the intention was the 11R trade but the Gap caused a change of plan THIS IS WHY I TRADE BECAUSE OFTEN THESE TRADES COME OFF INTENDED AS PLANNED - this one didn't but it was still a half decent trade To prove the position - I won't be doing this ever again - very NEARLY got the high! You can SCAN the market EVERY DAY for NARROW RANGE bars - and then when they conform to trading method you employ they offer an ultra high probability trading opportunity with ultra high returns
