Beginner: buying UK shares question

Radobi

Question

Hi,

I am looking into buying BP shares. It was trading at £233. When I enter a quantity of 1 share, I get that the cost is £10.35 (see picture below). Can someone please explain why it is showing this figure instead of the actual trade price of £233?

BP PLC is quoted in pence, so one share isn't £233, it's £2.33. The rest is the commission we charge.

I hope this helps.
