Hello there,

I would be grateful if someone could explain what happens if I don't close a long position before expiry date? Does it automatically rollover? And are there any charges/rollover fees?

Thank you in advance.

If your rollover instructions are enabled we will automatically roll them to the next contract the day before the expiry date. The charge will be the spread. If you do not have your rollover instructions enabled then the position will close on the expiry date.

You can check your rollover instructions on the MyIG page by selecting Settings> Rollovers.

All the best

Hi Charlotte,

If the contract expires on 21/4 with a settlement price of 20.82, what will be the opening price of the rollover contract? Will it be 20.82 or the market price on 21/4?

thanks,

Ryan

Hi, see the info dropdown on the chart. pic below.

Before expiry the May contract is closed and on rollover a new June contract is opened (as per the June chart's bid or ask price)

Simple questions, but humor me...

I assume the position would also be closed if you were short?

Just confirming, if you held a short position and the contract expired in the negative, you would not make a loss?
