  1. I've got a spreadsheet I use to download data to analyse positions - it's been working fine (until recently) and limits itself to not make more than 60 calls per minute. For around a week however, the API to request data is failing with http code 403 ("error.public-api.exceeded-api-key-allowance") after only making around 25 requests. Has the "calls per minute" changed from 60 to 25? The spreadsheet tracks how many calls have been made in the last 60 seconds, so I know for a fact I've not gone over the call limit.

  2. Apparently there is a list of shares that "Closing only: Market unavailable to open" applies to. Where can I access that list?

  3. Yet they allow you to SELL and close out your positions. What will that do to the overall market price of AMC and GME? Well obviously if we can only sell the the price will go down down, allowing these greedy hedge funds to exit their short positions without taking too much of a hit. You have 2 choices, 1. Sell your shares back to the hedges, just like they want, or 2. Hold and watch them wet the bed, eventually having to buy at the price WE SET and us little guys make some money. Also, leave IG they don't deserve your business after this blatant act of market manipulation.

  4. Not that I am complaining. So far, almost every long position I have has popped, with the exception of the FTSE or Flat Stonks exchange, as it's been the ugly duckling of world indices for quite some time. From USD weakness to barn storming world and US indices to commodities that have risen to orgasmic heights plus bonds of all descriptions including total junk with stratospheric totally unreasonable valuations and how can we not mention cryptos? Supersized prices and Bears that have chosen hibernation over extermination this winter. What goes up can only keep going up is the new adage. Are w

  5. Good Morning Forum I am relatively new to IG and joined because it offered more buying opportunities in the US than my traditional share platform which were only comfortable with me buying blue chip FTSE stock. Last Friday i was out for a walk an needed to buy a stock when the market opened at 2.30pm. i had to use the mobile app for this. When the share became available i clicked buy entered 1000 was then asked for a limit ? then got a message to say order had been executed? When i checked back later i was puzzled to see i had purchased 638 shares? When i got home i checked my past a

  6. Hey @NeilKitch, Thanks for your first post. From what you've mentioned here it seems you requested a limit 'Execute & Eliminate'. When placing orders on US shares you have to chose a limit, market or stop order. You can see the difference below: If you chose the limit execute & eliminate option it would have bought as many shares as possible at the price you selected or better. You can select the day order if you want the full day to see if you can get the full amount of shares at the price you selected or better. Good til cancelled will leave the orde

  7. Hey Sam, I hope you're well. With CFD and spread betting you're trading on a leveraged product which means you only put down a percentage of the market value when placing the trades. Then the profit/ loss moves and changes your balance depending on the market moving in your favor or against you. When you place the order on a CFD account you can see the margin you're putting down on the deal ticket: With spread betting we use points. If the number to the left of the decimal place moved from 1 to 2 that's a one point movement. If your position size on spread betting

  8. I was wondering at what point the next index futures are available to trade, as currently only MAR-21 is offered. At what point will JUNE-21 be offered? Is there a set date that IG begins offering the next dates? Thank you

  10. Actually PhilPhilPhil is making some important points, I was sitting at the trading desk in Jan 2015 when the bottom fell out of the swissy, FXCM went bust and so very nearly did IG, big lessons learnt by traders and brokers alike. I don't want to trade with a broker who doesn't close the book when things get very hairy and their very business is at risk. I didn't care that some crypto guys couldn't catch the lift on a particular day during the bitcoin bubble in 2017 when IG temporarily closed the book and it's the same for punters desperate to get on GME on Friday. I would rat

  11. Agreed. I naively thought IG would be on the right side here. You know, given the fact we are paying for the privilege. I hope they get what they deserve for clear and transparent market manipulation.

  12. It's pretty obvious who they are looking out for and it's not their customers. Time to shop around.

  13. Would love to hear from IG on this. If it's a clearing house issue why not restrict BOTH BUYING AND SELLING, wait for the clearing house to catch up, tap credit whatever needs to be done. But only allowing selling??? come on. A lot of people are going to lose money because of actions like this.
