  2. They all followed Dow when it dropped on the 1am hourly bar, the only thing I can find that it's attributed to is news SARs type virus outbreak in China has reportedly spread to other countries.
  3. it was slow especially the afternoon with no US session but the market held up well enough and still looks in reasonable shape to test recent highs on the proper week start up tomorrow.
  4. New podcast featuring Larry Tentarelli published just today, discusses strategies, trading pullbacks and breakout, scaling out of trades. I've followed Larry on twitter for years and have reproduced some of his tweets here on the forum, always worth a listen. https://futuresradioshow.com/podcast/ms74/
  5. they are all trying to push up now off this base.
  6. I would prefer the trigger indicator to signal all the potential entries and rely on a filter indicator to filter out the less probable ones, yes it will filter out some winning trades as well but so long as it filters out more losers than winners you are fine.
  7. fair enough, you can see by the comparison below just how similar RSI, PWR and Stoch really are;
  8. very good video, nice use of PWR with a Bollinger Band filter, exactly as you should be reading the markets, looking for dip buying opportunities in an uptrend and using the right tools to fine tune entries. OBOS (overbought oversold) price exits are a great signal and I use them all the time.
  9. no problem today, was taking a long time to load all last week and often skipping a box but on Friday 2 boxes wouldn't load so looked like the problem was getting worse. I'll see what happens this week.

  13. This will make you laugh; [SAN DIEGO (Reuters) – The Federal Reserve could find itself fighting too-low inflation for years to come, San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly said on Friday, and may need a new policy framework to lift inflation back up to the Fed’s 2% goal. “We don’t have a really good understanding of why it’s been so difficult to get inflation back up,” Daly said at the annual American Economics Association meeting in San Diego.] Turns out the top economists in the country don't understand how modern economics work, but never mind Modern Monetary Theory is coming. Ronald Reagan said back in the 80's that the national debt was big enough to take care of itself and guess what, he was right. 😳

    Libya’s Oil Output Grinds to Halt as Berlin Peace Talks End (someone commented over the weekend that there was not a single representative from Libya at the Berlin mtg) ... BBG Libya’s biggest oil field began to halt production after armed forces shut down a pipeline https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-19/oil-pipe-from-libya-s-biggest-field-halted-ahead-of-peace-talks?sref=dJOSAJZH

  19. Hi, when trading derivatives on IG you are trading IG's market which tracks the underlying market so IG don't have a non-trading hour mid week. They do though around that time switch from more main stream liquidity providers to er, others, that might cause short term increased volatility and may even cause a spike on the charts which may be seen as slippage if you were opening or closing a trade at that time.
  20. Hi, IG use a variable spread system which also applies to the min stop distance and is determined by the current market volatility. This will determine where you are able to place a new trailing stop and I think it does have a step function to delay the start, play around on the demo, that's what it's for.
  21. @Nexuscrawler & @Hippocampus, Hi, all 'daily funded bets' (DFB) also known as spots have a daily interest charge (or credit). The Futures or Forwards markets are designed for holding longer term and have a larger spread instead of the daily interest charge. If expecting to hold for less than a week the DFB is probably better, if longer than a week think futures. The swaps fees can only be worked out accurately at end of day but some estimates can bee seen for some markets on the platform, see https://www.ig.com/uk/help-and-support/spread-betting-and-cfds/fees-and-charges/why-is-overnight-funding-charged-and-how-is-it-calculated- Options are probably best left til understanding of the general leveraged platforms (DFB and CFDs).
