If people did that, they would 'learn' that trading is a waste of time and do something more productive with their time than gamble using methods that cause 95 - 99% of people to lose money.

right, I think I'll start up a business instead, oh wait ...

    Bernard Sanders for President!!!

Considering Biden Snr and Jnr could both be in jail for their part in Ukrainian corruption could end up a race between Saunders and Trump. Delicious.

The indices seem to be forming a wedge, so expecting a pullback soon.

Still needs a driver, a pattern itself isn't a driver but more of a coercion or sometimes just a clue as to possibilities. I'm thinking of writing a book called 'Failed Chart Patterns' and have lots of pics of chart patterns that never worked out, you don't ever see that. Do you think it would sell?

  3. The US Senates partisan political stunt of voting to impeach Trump has truly backfired as his approval rating has increased since the hearings began and Stocks and USD don't care. Republican leaders have said not a single Republican will vote for his removal from office and in the betting for the 2020 election race Trump has surged into an even greater lead while all Dem candidates have all fallen.

Dow and S&P remain in touch with the highs, Ftse still at the breakout highs from earlier in the week. China still trapped under key resistance.

You're right and I have nobody to blame but myself - Boeing is just 'too big to fail'.

Should never short the big U.S. equities if you're just retail pond life ****.  Will get burned EVERY.  SINGLE.  TIME.

yes you're right, don't short this stuff, ever. watch the cardinal cash vid in the Something Interesting thread and learn 🙂.

Completely adrift at the moment ... nothing seems to be working, TA is utterly hopeless (including those pivot points, as they swing up and down without rhyme or reason) and the markets driven entirely by big institutions manipulating things ... once again beginning to think retail clients are stupid for taking part in this.  I certainly am.

what 🙃?  The daily pivot points are calculated on yesterday's OHL so plenty rhyme and reason, check the chart below.

The 8am bar this morning went straight up to tag R2, the next H1 bar was a doji after retesting R1 and higher above R2, then price went on to test R3 and pulled back on the last bar of the day.

After yesterday's pause bar on the break peeps were looking for continuation this morning and they got it.

  6. Great News, the average age when people see the light and crossover from supporting socialism to supporting conservatism has dropped by 8 years, now the average age is 39, down from 47. (You Gov).

That's the amount of real life experience needed to see that socialism is not about a fairer society at all but is really about taking complete and total control while conservatism is not about selfishness but is really about protecting personal freedoms.

    Hello everyone

sorry if I've misunderstood the question,

account = 2000, will risk 1% on a 10 point stop trade = 20 CHF risk (stop loss).

On the platform you can see that 20 CHF risk is equal to 2 mini contracts trade size.

To cover the trade you need 653 CHF margin in your account.

So start with the amount you are willing to risk then work backwards to see what trade size that equals.

Hello everyone I have a capital of 2000 Swiss francs and I wish to trade the mini USD/CHF. When I take out a contract with 10 stop loss points, I see that you need to have a cover of .... 92.18 francs! It means that you must have a capital of 9218 francs if I want my position to be 1% of my capital? Me I thought that it was necessary to have 2000 francs minimum because on the mini USD/CHF 1 point is worth 1 francs and therefore with 20 points I accept a loss of 20 francs which represents 1% of my capital and I try to get ratios of 2.5 or 3 (I do DayTrading). So my question is as follows: Should I base myself on the cover that my position requires to know how much I will invest my capital or should we base ourselves on the value of the point in francs? Thanks for reading. I hope to get clear answers :)

Happy to be wrong but not to be wrong AND lose money.

100% of the GBP rise was captured by the big boys, retail clients were literally locked out of the market and it was over in minutes.

As I mentioned in this thread (or another one) earlier, you need to use orders to get in if expecting a sudden high volatility move because orders are processed on a first come first served basis and so trying to use a market order puts you at the back of the queue. The computer doesn't know who you are it just processes the orders in sequence. See below I got filled bang on 10pm and so could you have.

GBP collapsing - fundamental situation identical to election night.  Why are retail traders even allowed to bet on such heavily manipulated/rigged markets?  Can anyone show me any kind of TA that actually works in forex?

I can see your TA and know exactly how to take advantage of it so I'll call and raise you 20 🙂

Why do you think that is? It's not like it's not being traded elsewhere and there's no big volume or price swing. Maybe a fault with IG.

Big gap up this morning and price continuing straight up though don't know why. see chart below.
