  1. Very good 44 minute podcast with two very experienced futures traders discuss the 7 cardinal sins traders make. Something for everyone here, very down to earth, you will recognise these sins and gain insight on how to deal with them. Anthony Crudele and Morad Askar http://www.futuresradioshow.com/podcast/ms24/
  2. Excellent question and the reality is NO unless you have a guaranteed stop. Liquidity is the key, to get out of a long position there must be someone willing to take that contract off you, same with a short position. If the market is in freefall there will be no liquidity and you are stuck with it. IG has become more sensitive concerning risk because though these 'black swan' events are rare crypto is clearly a high potential candidate. In 2015 the SNB removed the swissie/euro peg and price plunged 2000 pip in minutes, some people in the market with a 5 grand account and a 20 pip stop suddenly found themselves owing IG over 200 grand. IG had to write off many of those losses and that's when they introduced the guaranteed stop and the tied statement "losses can exceed account deposit". A similar though not as catastrophic black swan event occurred during the night of the Brexit referendum. I watched both these events live on screen and it was clear anyone trapped was just a passenger.
  3. Hi . Not all brokers offer the signal service on MT4, you are right, there is no signals tab on IG's MT4 so I suspect IG are one that doesn't, maybe can check for you. https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/31205

  6. no, that's not your mac, the classic platform is being slowly phased out by IG. Is there not another function key that serves as a right click?
  7. Hi . You can't for the any of the IG watchlists but there should be no problem deleting any watchlist or components of any watchlist you have created by hovering over and right clicking for menu option box.
  8. Hi On the new platform go to 'MyIG' (start up page or top right corner on the platform) - then click 'settings' see 'change password' in the list.
  9. Hi I'm not sure you can but if you open a new browser tab then the IG log-on page the live chat icon will come up after a few seconds in bottom right hand corner.
  10. Hi Do you mean two charts on the same workspace? If so just click the reduce icon next to the close icon and then resize and drag the charts around.
  11. Hi Welcome, take a look at the cryto mega-thread at https://community.ig.com/t5/FX-and-Cryptocurrency/Cryptocurrency-Mega-Thread/m-p/14172#M1522 For up-coming companies put AIM into the IG search tab on the home page to learn more about that market. Good luck.
  12. Hi , no apology necessary, no offence taken, just not sure why you don't have separate templates for each indicator set. You can make up, name and save as many templates as you want. So when you open a new chart for the instrument just select the time frame and then load the appropriate template from your saved templates which will replace all the indicators.
  13. Hi I must have misunderstood but it looked like you were wanting to make multiple templates to apply to copies of a chart.

  16. Hi A good guide here, http://www.cleanfinancial.com/reducing_your_risk_when_spread_betting.php The account size you will need will be determined by the size of stop loss order on the trade, the bet size per point and the percentage amount of your account you are willing to risk on the trade.
  17. Hi No, the companies operate like a business (like a casino), you as a trader must operate like a business (like a casino) and not like a punter (gambler).
  18. If you are trading a dollar currency pair keep one eye on the the dollar basket. Look day to day, weak dollar or strong dollar. Most other currencies fall into line, if they are trying to go one way but the overall dollar move doesn't suit they will go sideways instead until it does.
  19. Very interesting podcast discussing bet sizing and risk management. Goes into outcomes of experiments that do not come out as you would expect and helps explain how you can lose with a seemingly common sense approach. Particularly pertinent as the guest is Victor Haghani who was a founding member of Long Term Capital Management that famously went bust in 1998 and I think still holds the record as the biggest corporate bust of all time. 45 min long and quite a bit of math but worth hanging on. https://chatwithtraders.com/ep-129-victor-haghani/
  20. Interesting 35 min podcast from Bloomberg where traders interview a world championship poker player. 24. Hi & sorry if I have missed something but doesn't the Bid- Ask colour band (on price) indicator already do that?
  25. Hi The advanced charting platform is ProRealTime in the drop down list. Be aware there is a charge at the end of the month if you use it but don't make at least 2 round turn trades during the month. Even just a couple of quick scalping in and outs will do.
