Hi I finally managed to resolve it - rather than use IG-LIVE I used the server name directly and that seemed to work. I then unfortunately got invalid database header errors which I resolved by rebuilding the charts. Thank you again for all your help

Hi Thank you for your detailed response - greatly appreciated. All a mystery as I have tried pinging the IG-DEMO server number of times via scan without success plus IG-LIVE is not shown in the list. I tried another version of MT4 ( from different broker) p and that worked fine - so not a firewall issue. Totally confused. If you have any further suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Hi again When I go to my IG platform via browser and naviagate to "MY IG" I can see my MT4 account but there is no option to delete it - am I looking in right place? Regards MT4 platform itself - it doesnt even go as far as allowing my tick the subscription - afte clicking 'next' after ticking demo account type from 'Select account type' it just sits there. I did notice that IG-DEMO server does not ping - I'm assuming that is correct? thanks

Hi I have IG MT4 downloaded and installed on my Windows 10 laptop. I tried to open a demo account via file->open account -> selecting IG-DEMO trading server and then new demo account. At this point , after clicking next button (which greys out) nothing happens and gave up after waiting over 2 hrs. What is going on please and why is it not letting me create a MT4 demo account? Thank you

Hi - I am referring to the end of day prices on the FTSE 100 index cash market price i.e between 8am and 4:30(plus auction period) - they are normally in sync during this time give or take a pip but not differences of this size. I know your question is not for me so hope you dont mind me contributing :- I be honest and say 99% of books out there are rubbish and two most important steps are :- (1)Mindset -Humans are not wired to be successful traders so you may need to reprogram yourself (easier said than done) - This will be a personal journey but I do like lot of material written by Brett Steenbarger (2)Get yourself a 'successful', experienced and proven trading mentor Even then there is no guarantee of success but above all do NOT take up trading to make money instead to be successfull in executing your edge (when you find it) and money will come to you All the best

Hi , With respect Hamza , why is it your dream to work(trade) the stock market when you say you dont know anything about it? This is an important question to answer truthfully as most people say its the dream of just making money and the freedom etc. Please dont enter trading if you are chasing the money otherwise more times than not you will end up blowing your account(s). Others have mentioned good starting point for you with regards to reading material. It is also important to understand your personality as that will dictate your style of trading. Once you have a good understanding it is also important to find yourself a mentor (someone who actual trades for a living) I wish you all the best

Hi I am little bit confused with how IG handle selling PUT options and was wondering if someone can help please :- Lets say SHARE A i has March PUT option selling at 40 and I sell one contract. Later on when market moves against me I buy it back at 80. I was expecting to be initially credited with £400 premium for selling the option and then it would cost me £800 for buying it back ie total loss of £400. HOWEVER with IG I do NOT get the premium and instead have a loss of £800 Can anyone explain why is that please as I have tried contacting IG number of times without reply Thanking you in advance

Hi I have a spreadbetting account with IG, I sold PUTS in a share and was expecting to be given a credit but instead I have to wait until the PUT expires or sell at a profit before I am given a credit. Why does IG do that when other brokers give you a credit as soon as you sell the PUT? Secondly given that I dont have a credit , and if my position is tested and I want to rollover can this still be done cosidering I am not given credits up front as I assumed having the credit upfront improves the cashflow? thanks

Thank you Martino115 - much appreciated. If I wanted to rollover the option , how would i do that? Do I just buy the original option (ie close it for loss) and sell another PUT to cover at least the cost of the rollover? Thanks

Hi I was wondering if someone could help, If I sell a put option how high can the price get i.e how much can I lose? Plus how can i protect my position from GAPing against my position e.g weekends, overnight etc? Thanking you in advance and look forward to your response
