  1. Had the same error message I was trying to buy some US listed ADRs pre-market. So at around noon UK time. Even though it showed as green and gave a pre-market price it just kept saying "no longer available online".

Could only place the order after the US open - it went through then. But it was annoying.

Not sure if my problem is exactly the same issue as yours, but probs something you wanna raise to IG, would be useful if you could share their response back here too..

  2. Hi, just wondering if anyone at IG might be able to advise on this.

Just checking through the available markets in IG share dealing - Hong Kong, Japan, Canada are noticeably absent as available countries. Is that coverage something IG might be able to offer in the future? I see the ADR/DR lines of some of those overseas stocks are offered, as they're listed on NYSE, Xetra, but none of the native stocks.

There are some upcoming floats of interest:

    - PSYK ETF listing on NEO in Canada

    - Didi Chuxing potential IPO on HK exchange

    Thanks for any info.

  3. Hi, stumbled across this while searching for something related. Did you get an answer from IG on this?

Assuming this is in your share dealing / ISA account, and you're on a GBP account; if you're buying US shares outright, your realised P&L when you sell them is gonna be [GBP sale amount - GBP purchase amount]. Not the [USD sale amount - USD purchase amount] converted to GBP.

    Say you buy 1 US share for $120 @ GBP/USD 1.2, i.e. you spend £100

If it then gains 20% your share is worth $144 so your USD p&l is $24

But say GBP/USD has also moved to 1.5

    Your GBP p&l is [GBP sale amount - GBP purchase amount] = [($144/1.5) - £100] = £4 loss

    Your GBP p&l is not $24/1.5 = £16 gain

It's a bit annoying because the live dealing platform will show your GBP p&l as the latter, under the list of open positions, which is misleading and incorrect. You only get the correct figure after sell the shares and work it out from your transaction history. This is something I've mean meaning to ask IG about.

  4. Heya, if you open the deal ticket for your stock, under "order type" on the ticket you should be able to  select Stop order. If you then select "sell", enter a numbers of shares, and enter a price under "stop level" which is lower than the current market price, your shares should be sold if the market price falls to/below your chosen stop level.

I think you can only create stop orders when the market for your stock is open . You'll want to select "Good til cancelled" under "Expiry" too - if you want the stop loss to last more than a day.

You should double check this with IG helpdesk though. Also, I don't know if the stop order is guaranteed to fill at the stop level however (I don't see a "guaranteed stop" option like they have in the CFD account).

  5. @shardymo Not sure if you got this resolved in the end but just wanted to mention - I had a similar question/problem just now. ISA share dealing accounts don't have an "order" button in the ticket and I was trying to submit  an out-of-hours limit order on the "deal" tab which kept failing with a "the exchange is currently unavailable" message.

Turns out it was because I was using a GBP value amount; the issue resolves when I use a number of shares instead - and the order goes through and shows in working orders.
