  1. Hello Can anyone tell me if the oil price going negative means that the IG price I pay can fall bellow zero? For eg if say I have a long position at £1 a point on crude and it was at 2000, I would expect to only lose a maximum of £2000 if no stop loss was set. Does going negative mean it can fall bellow zero? This may be a silly question to most but I don't trade oil.
  2. I think I need to start doing that.
  3. No info yet. I have got a felling that because I was in profit for Wall st March, they didn't want me to be able to close it and take the money. They are most likely gonna try and manipulate the price to close me out at a loss on Friday. OR MAYBE I'M JUST A CYNIC. 🙁
  4. Hello I want to close a Wall st Mar 20 contract, but when I try to close it I get a message " this contract is due to expire. Please open positions in the next contract." I don't want to open a new position, I want to close the current position. Any one know why it won't close. I have never had this problem before.
  5. Hello Can anyone tell me if IG still has the setting were I can place a maximum bet size in case I make a mistake? I am sure I set it on the old version but I went on it again but cannot find the setting. Does the new version have it?
  6. Hello I am trying to set a stop on an open position but when I click on my positions tab and the list of open trades comes up I type the number in and it only shows in faint, then if I click anything else the cell goes back to blank, why is this?
  7. How many times do dividend adjustments happen? This week IG says FTSE 100 will lose 4.3 points on 22nd August but my account was deducted the equivalent of 4.3 on the 22nd and on the 23rd. Is this correct?
  8. So am I correct in saying that the new spreadbetting rules don't happen until early August. And it is July for binaries?
  9. What does the 3 month thing mean? They say at the end of the 3 month they will look to extend for a further 3 month. I thought it is a permanent change.
  10. Hi Will trades I have opened before July be affected by the new ESMA rules? Will I need more margin to keep them open? I was told in a previous question that I wouldn't.
  11. Right in front of my eyes as I thought it would be. I was looking in indicators for it. Easy when you know how. Thanx again.
  12. Hello Does the simple IG charts have a line chart setting? I usually just use candles.
  13. I think I may spreadbet shares rather than indices.
  14. IG are going to need to be creative if they want to attract new retail customers. I would not of started trading with IG under the new rules.
  15. I was thinking more about 25p - 50p and then build a position.
  16. Hi Yes, that's what I think. I have seen a few traders who use youtube etc and they can bet smaller. How can IG grow their customers when the new rules come into force. Smaller bet size will allow them to learn on a smaller account.
  17. Hi With the introduction of the new ESMA rules in July, will you be offering smaller bet sizes? I know that some older clients can trade as small as 25p a point, will this be introduced for everyone?
  18. Hi Can someone from IG give an example of the new 50% margin stop which will change under the new ESMA rules. I have never had a margin stop before so I am not 100% sure about it. I generally trade FTSE and Currency pairs.
  19. Does it only affect new positions or are all positions that we have open before the changes included?
  20. Just login to MyIG and then Dashboard. The box should be there about the professional account. Just click on learn more and this will give you the criteria.
  21. Yeah I know. It has to be at least 2 of the 3 questions you must meet.
  22. Hello I am noticing a prompt when I login which is offering the option to change to the professional account from my retail account. This is to do with the ESMA thing which is going on at the moment. If I changed to a pro account and I decided it wasn't for me, could I change back to a retail account somewhere down the line?
  23. Hello I have heard about the EU proposals on a crackdown in the spread betting markets recently, but can anyone tell me how exactly this would impact on a retail trader like myself. I have made a small amount of money trading indices and forex over the past 2 years. Would I have to increase my account to keep old trades (that are in profit) open? Is it all markets that will be affected or just digital 100's etc? Will it only affect new positions which will be opened when the new rules come in to force.
