  1. I have a trading account at IG and also at another broker. I am domiciled in the UK and funding my trades from GBP. When buying US shares on IG, I note that prices are quoted in GBP and shares are marked as "All Sessions". On the other platform, US shares are quoted in USD and I am buying CDIs (Crest Depositary Interests) and the shares are held by Crest. Does anyone here have an opinion on which format is best for trading US shares (FYI I mainly hold long-term in an Stocks-and-Shares ISA). thanks!
  2. But the trade remained open in the platform and I was eventually able to close it (about 45 minutes later when the market had moved slightly against me) and I received instant email confirmation of the close. I'll try and do a screen recording the next time this happens...thanks for all of your input @Joo and @StormChaser.
  3. I definitely wasn't opening a new position - I was repeatedly clicking on the CLOSE button on my short position. I'll try and do a screen-grab next time to demonstrate (if it happens again)!
  4. The platform does not let me close my short position because presumably IG is too "out of the money" to let me cash in with that much profit. I was around £600 in the black and it wouldn't let me close my position until my gain was closer to £150...
  5. I understand this “business decision” but don’t understand why you accept my spreads but then prevent me from closing them when they’re in the money. if you don’t have the margin then don’t take my bet, the same way I can’t place a bet with you if I don’t have the margin?
  6. My short positions are in-the-money and I am being prevented from closing them. I am not able to place bets if I don't have margin...why are IG taking my bets if they don't have the margin?
  7. I have professional account status and am able to trade crypto but am being prevented from closing in-the-money short positions. This is the second day I've had these issues.
  8. Thanks JLZ - should have been able to find that myself!
  9. I have been an equities investor for years and usually just buy and hold. I am testing out the spread betting platform but cannot for the life of me find a definitive answer to what I am charged to overnight a DFB... I opened a tiny position yesterday (22nd December) and appear to have been charged an INT fee today (interest I am guessing) but I was looking for some sort of overnight fee which I can't find (is it the INT fee)? Thanks!
