They tried this in Australia in 2009. I received a cheque here in blighty! I am trying to find analysis of if it worked. Guardian - it did work I'm not a fan of direct economic stimulus because I expect the money flow to go like this. Govt > Tax Payer > New TV > Large multinational > TV manufactured outside the UK and jobs/ some profit goes there. So we end up in a situation where large companies benefit anyway, just takes a month to hit their balance sheet.

Mistakes have been made..... I think today is a perfect example of why I should follow the below steps: 1) Make plan 2) Trade plan 3) Switch off computer and come back 4 hours later.

I... urm..... cashed out for zero PnL when I wrote that last post....... I am gutted. This would have offset some of the losses on my long calls.

I have been building a long dated call position over the last week. That took a hammering on Monday. I should just sit and wait now. But thats tricky! My thinking: With daily option IV at ~100%, it means that daily vol is in the region of 6.3%, so for the FTSE thats a 380 point move, well above the ATR of 225. Basically, I think the short dated options are very over priced.

Hi, I just checked my trade analytics for the breakdown of my PnL etc. And I couldn't reconcile it to my records. It is missing a wall st option that I traded last week. Happy to provide more details on private chat. James

Could see a rally back to 6720 now. Last two have been in the 30 bip range.

Very close to buying some of this today, even though the ATR is out of my budget. I think this might retreat a bit...

This is going to put a big spotlight on zero hour contracts and jobs where you have 10 contracted hours but do a LOT of regular overtime. As business takes a hit, those hours are going to disappear, and sick pay? Not happening.

Coronavirus: what stocks and sectors are impacted?

Posted at 16:1416:14 Powell: Fed rate cut 'won't reduce infection' Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell is talking to reporters after the surprise Fed rate cut. He says: "The virus outbreak is somehting that will require a muti-faceted response" - from many actors, including healthcare providers and public and private sector bodies. "It won't reduce infection, it won't fix a broken supply chain - we get that," he says. But it will help to support confidence, he adds. -

Morning, The world index's are responding well to "stimulus", in whatever form that takes. And currently a rising tide raises all ships. But lets be realistic, holiday companies (I'm looking at you TUI), I think they are still in trouble. The are up 2.3% dod currently.... thoughts on a shorting opportunity? -
Morning all, Predictions for the day? FTSE was falling nicely yesterday morning before reversing upwards in the afternoon and evening. I guess we will have to wait for the US open to determine direction again today?!
-
ahh pivot points. Been a while since I looked at those! Used them on FX, might have a look at applying them to equities.
-
So the European open is done. What now? Sit around till the US opens, because this looks like its going to trade sideways till lunchtime! Might take the morning off and do something/anything more productive than this!
