Can someone explain 'Expiry' on the ticket

Hi everyone. I am new to IG and to trading. I tried buying my first stock last night, and came across 'Expiry' in the ticket. I did some searching but couldn't find a very good explanation. I thought I understood well enough what it was, so I left it on the pre-selected 'Day' selection and placed my order. The stock was t+3, so I knew I had a few days before it is complete, but this morning my order was gone. Just hoping someone can help me understand, and what I can do to get this stock ordered?
