Struggling to deal stock and etfs - some advice please...

Hi guys, New to this site and investing in general. I want to buy into some ETF's but having a couple of issues. The first is that I got a message after trying to buy an ETF that 'it was a complex product and that I didn't have access... does this make any sense to any one? I am going to be investing rather than trading. Also where on the platform can you view the holdings of each ETF I did try to buy some individual stocks the other day and each of my deals were rejected or unsuccessful. I am trying to find a simple video on here to see what I am doing wrong! Thank you
