Div adjustment

Hi there, I noticed on my account there are div adjustments on a equity index position..... What is this??? I assume I am paying dividends out since I'm short the index through the daily. I also have interest charges.... Anyone know how the interest charges are calculated? Is it the leverage afforded by the position? Cheers, TC
