The Virus and the Economy
Provaton replied to Caseynotes's topic in General Trading Strategy Discussion
Sorry @Caseynotes but you've got this the wrong way round, variants are emerging due to people NOT being vaccinated! As more people get vaccinated the risk of a new variant emerging decreases. Your call to stop the vaccination programme immediately is one of the most ridiculous statements you've ever posted on here! -

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html The CDC advises wearing a mask. I really don't understand the problem with wearing a mask and what your motivation is for sowing all this doubt. Just wear a mask, even if you don't think it's very effective, what possible harm can it do? https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/question-and-answers-hub/q-a-detail/coronavirus-disease-covid-19-masks -

The scientific community consensus is that there is a higher probability of mutations occurring where you have less people vaccinated. -

What, the mass vaccination program in Africa? You have this the wrong way round, these new variants would not be emerging if we had a global vaccination program. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/07/03/health/unvaccinated-variant-factories/index.html -

Nobody has ever said this, they REDUCE the risk! The key word here is "most", he didn't say "all". I repeat: the vaccines reduce the risk of serious illness and death. -
The Virus and the Economy
Provaton replied to Caseynotes's topic in General Trading Strategy Discussion
However you want to spin it, the vaccines are lowering the risk of death and/or serious illness, you only need to see how the number of deaths during this wave is far less than the previous waves when we didn't have vaccines. I am almost at a loss for words at this point, I never imagined that during a pandemic, when we have vaccines freely available, we would be having discussions like this on whether to use them or not! -

Most of the unvaxxed are of a lower age so are therefore less likely to die. I'm not sure you can draw any conclusions from that chart without more information and some context. Further down this Twitter thread which you excluded he says this: -

CDC reviewed 14 reports of death after vaccination. Among the decedents, four were aged 12–15 years and 10 were aged 16–17 years. All death reports were reviewed by CDC physicians; impressions regarding cause of death were pulmonary embolism (two), suicide (two), intracranial hemorrhage (two), heart failure (one), hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis and disseminated Mycobacterium chelonae infection (one), and unknown or pending further records (six). Seems like a wide range of causes of death, are you suggesting these are all due to the vaccine? As you like to say about the death figures: "dying not from Covid but with Covid" Is this a case of "dying after taking the vaccine but not necessarily from the vaccine"? -

You've just shown one data point of one point in time, how can that show "holding firm"? Was it the same number last week, last month?
