  1. Hi, i have a few questions regarding an experienced trader's style of trading? Which is preferable spreadbet or cfd in regards to fees & commissions etc. i think it was mentioned that cfds charge commission when opening stock position but i thought that was only for when you actually buy a stock. In CFD you are not buying the stock just leveraging it so why charge commissions. so is spreadbet better for frequent trades than cfd? In either of them, the positions you open do you leave it till end of day or open/close quite frequently? If you open/close frequently do you not lose out to the spread or is this a better to maximise profits How soon/amount of profit do you prefer to close a position? if you leave till end of day or even a few weeks, do you find it better for maximising profits or just the fact you are not chained to the screen as opening/closing takes a lot of time? I tried a few dummy ones. A) leaving it open and closed it just before trading finished. I found whatever profits it had made by the middle of day had all disappeared by the end of session. B) placing a stop loss to prevent profit disappearing. it just closed my positions at a loss as the stop loss had to be placed quite away from my preferred place. C) opening & closing frequently and watching the screen constantly. I found C to be best at actually being able to realise the profits but the only problem is constant opening of new positions eats into your profits (due to spread) So what is a better way? I suppose it wouldn't be a problem leaving it open but the only thing is especially for indices/other similar leveraged, the fact that you needs funds to cover when it moves against your direction and it can move quite a bit! So what works for you, any suggestions? I didn't realised it was such a long post. Thanks for reading and i look forward to your helpful suggestions.
