  1. It sounds like you may have run into a technical problem, which could be the reason for this difference. If this is the case, you should call your brokerage and tell them what's going on. They should be able to help you figure out what happened and fix the problem.

  2. Yes, leverage is to blame. On a demo account, you can change the leverage depending on what you are trading. For example, the leverage for Forex can be changed from 1:1 up to 1:200. If you want to learn more about the platform, IG has a lot of ways to do so, such as webinars and trading courses. Check out their website or online help center to find them. You can also read articles and watch videos that other traders who have used the IG platform have made.
