Spread betting by entity tax?
in General Trading Strategy Discussion
Posted
From HMRC Webpage pasted below for "Individuals and others" not not within the charge to Corporation Tax, Spead Betting can be Tax free.
So it does appear for a company eg Ltd spread betting is not tax free, but for a Trust then spead betting might be tax free as possibly covered by "others"?
would require more investigating, but as like individuals it dependends on if spead betting is deemed to your work/trader.
"Individuals and others not within the charge to Corporation Tax
For individuals and others not within the charge to Corporation Tax the position is different. In such cases you will need to examine the contract to see if it is a gambling or wagering one. There is guidance on this at BIM22016. The profits or losses from gambling or wagering contracts are outside the scope of Income Tax (see BIM22015)"
