Hi Sam,
Likewise, just opened my IG account/demo mode but have decided to also get some training from someone to help me along the way.
With regards to risk/reward ratio of 1:1 or 1:2, I'd suggest no more risk than 1 - 2% of your account size so on your current 10K demo account risk no more than £100 - £200 per trade.
