Trying to understand the stupidity behind the margin requirements for buying an option. I understand ASIC rule changes have come into force. Why are IG charging 4 times the notional value of a bought option position as margin? Clearly they didn't participate in the review process with ASIC. Just tried to buy April 16  76c AUD puts notional value $USD722 and the Margin quoted was $USD2531 . This is either deceptive and misleading conduct on both IG Markets behalf and ASIC for introducing the regulation or its false advertising because you are advertising a price of $722 and charging $2531.

      Yes Goldenbrown, I think you make a good point about being careful when trading.  In my opinion, only trades which are calculated to have a high probability of being correct should be placed. DAX is a market that can look daunting at first, but after a lot of study and experience with it, I have found it to be easier than the others.       I just cheeked my positions and it is now closed. I am guessing it was a time delay between the moment when the markets closed and the moment when the position closed ( about 30 min difference) when the options was still showing as an opened position and with the next day expiry (25)
