Trading Shares - guidance on stop-loss

Bought shares and thought I'd put a stop loss in, the chart displayed and in also displayed in the orders tab, at say £10.12, however it went down through this line and didn't sell my position, I'm I doing something wrong?

Thank you for reaching out. You are only able to apply stop or limit levels on open positions only on leverage accounts like the CFD or Spread Betting account. If you are using the stop loss option to sell your existing position in a share dealing account, the stop will act as a market order to sell if the market reaches your limit. All the best, OfentseIG

So it's not a stop loss then. This explains why when I placed a stop on Friday it executed immediately. This should not be the case and you should not have the stop option on share dealing screens if it doesn't work like that. What it actually does is a Limit sell.
