Hedge trade not executed on MT4

Hi guys,

I am using an expert advisor on MT4 that creates a short order on SP500 and later, depending on the circumstances, a long one before closing the first. What has been happening on the real money account (but not on the demo one) is that the second order disappears when it is time for it to execute. It does not leave any trace, log message or anything. It just disappears. I have contacted IG Helpdesk but just getting silence for the moment.

Does anyone have a clue on why that is happening?

Thanks Johnny. I am based in the UK. Do you know if that would be the problem? I thought IG only operated int the UK.

It sounds like you're in a jurisdiction (country) that enforces a first -in-first-out (FIFO) rule. If so, no direct hedging (within the same instrument) is allowed.

Sometimes demo MT4 accounts leave hedging enabled as a Metaquotes (platform provider) default because there's no regulatory violation with no real money involved.
