Hi,

I've noticed that leverage on shares is 5 times as standard (so requiring 20% margin). Is there any option to reduce that to 2 or 3 times leveraged instead?

thanks

Dear @Sergio78,

Thank you for reaching out. Please note that as a professional trader, you can enjoy higher leverage and lower margins. This is because professional traders are not subject to ESMA leverage caps that are in place to protect retail clients. To qualify as a professional trader, you need to meet two of the following requirements:

1. Have traded leverage derivatives in significant sizes over the last four quarters?
2. Have a financial instrument portfolio exceeding €500k?
3. Have worked in the financial sector, in a professional position requiring knowledge of derivatives trading, for at least a year.

Hi Koketso,

Thanks for your reply

I'm not listed as a professional trader, just retail. My question was more about reducing leverage - i.e. taking on less risk by leveraging 2x or 3x when placing CFDs (rather than full 5 times). Is it possible to do this?

thanks

If you want 2x leverage just size your position at 40% (2/5) of what you would if you were taking on the full 5x leverage, e.g. if my account is $100, if I stick the whole $100 in margin that gets me 5x leverage but if I only put $40 in that is the equivalent of 2x leverage.

    • @KoketsoIG Thanks. How soon can we expect an update on the release date? It's been a couple of years with the same update: "we are currently waiting for the product team." We just want to make sure to have a rough estimate.
