  1. Thank you @Saiyani for asking about the email and @KoketsoIG for the answer. This is late and crucial information. I am glad I did not delete my account.

I reconsider closing my account, reopening it at a site with an undocumented feature, using an email I would have to create for that purpose. I don't like the idea of creating and maintaining a second email.

Please release an official (and tested) procedure with all boundary conditions for an English web interface and refer to it in your account creation pages.

  2. KML, thank you.

I started to use https://github.com/ig-python/trading-ig instead of Java, because I do not want to code from scratch, I find it well documented and structured,  and, last but not least, it works. Maybe you can use it as inspiration, it is a very shallow layer.

Indeed I had to create different username/password/api-key for live and demo.

  3. Hi @KML and @Will7,
    Do you mean the https://github.com/IG-Group/ig-webapi-java-sample?
    I cannot connect...
But this is already a step forward, after I failed to get the Schopenhauer Nodes code to work.

Which JDK do you use, Oracle11, too?
    On Windows or Linux?
Do you use the "default profile", too?
    I only changed  file src/main/resources/environment.properties
    ig.api.domain.URL = https://api.ig.com/gateway/deal
I can connect to the production site in the  companion.

Hi @DarekK, we're experiencing a global issue on the Demo environment. Our team is aware, and actively addressing it. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Regards,

    AshishIG

    Dear AshishIG,

Would this global issue also explain why pressing the "Create demo account" has no effect?

    Best regards,

    Markus

As Nadelina mentioned we're unable to change the language once the account is open.

However, if you live in German and need an English platform you can have one, You will need to close your current account with us and open a new one on: www.ig.com/ie

That is the English platform for people living in European countries where the primary language is not English.

    I hope this helps

    Dear IG forum administrators,

I created an account and only afterwards found  this thread.

I want my  web interface to be in English and I am willing to close  my current account and to reopen a new one.

When I browse to www.ig.com/ie and apply for an account, I am presented a form at https://www.ig.com/ie/application-form which asks for my "Country of residence", which happens to be Germany.

Could you please confirm that even if I specify "Germany" (again), I will get an English  web interface language because of the URL www.ig.com/ie ?

    Best regards,

    Markus
