I have a demo-account of 5000 GBP.
I entered below trade 2 days ago, with stoploss just below 100. Trade went very well and I was still in the trade yesterday evening at +200 GBP, but this morning I saw that the trade closed at -250 (my stop loss). At first I thought it could have been due to a margin call (which was low) and that it automatically close a position, but then it should have been just closed where it was (at profit).
I checked aftermarket hours and apparently there was a big drop to 91 which immediately recovered after that. Is this truly a reaction to news (dividend increase) or is this something on IG side ? e.g. spread increase (enormously) to knock out early traders ? I'm happy this happened in a demo account, cause otherwise I would have been devastated. Any advice on how I can protect myself from these drops ?
Thank you
