Demo Account Fees

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just started using the demo account to trial Forex and wanted to find out if all the trading cost and other charges like overnight funding are applied for the demo account or will these charges only be applied when I have a live account?

Thanks!

This is a very interesting question!

A demo account should take into account the costs, if it wants to simulate truthfully trading. Things like slippage are harder to simulate, but fees and charges should be reflected to be useful and faithful. I would not trust a platform that does not do so in their demo accounts.

Any answers?

Any answers from IG?

Thanks for your email.

Yes the spread and overnight funding are all built into the demo account as well so you will be able to see how that performs.

The one thing to note is that our margin call policy does not apply to the demo as it would to the live account

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The IG Demo account does not represent the live market at all with different spreads; also, slippage is a common occurrence.  I have tackled IG many times on this, and the result has been that the demo offering is for testing and is not supported like a live account.  Sorry for the dim news, but this is a reality.  Also, I recommend that you do not use PRT V12, as this makes things even worse! Its best to start on a small real account until your confidence builds.
