Gold Futures Rollover

Could anyone please advise of the nuances of running a rollover for Gold futures.

I have note traded for over 10 years however took out a Gold position 3 weeks ago on an August contract. My understanding is that this expires on the 28th of July (4 days). I have issued rollover instructions in setting and had e-mail conformation.

Despite this I am unsure how this manifests itself.

Does the rollover move to the December contract or just another month (Sept)?

Are the profits realised or do they just continue to run?

Do you effectively 'pay' the spread to IG again?

Is this a better / more efficient way of running a position for longer if you are still bullish on the outcome or should you close and open a new Dec contract?

Many Thanks for your time.

Ed

you will get rolled onto the december contract

profits get realised

yes you pay the spread again

in theory it doesnt make a difference what you do - rollover or close now and reopen a new contract, but personally i prefer to close a position manually so i can see exactly what price i'm getting

    • When I first heard about $MOVE, I didn’t think much of it. Let’s face it—there’s always another “hyped” coin making the rounds. But something interesting around this token made me curious enough to take a second look. People were raving about its Ethereum Layer 2 scalability and lightning-fast 30k TPS. The technology seemed solid.   After reading more about $MOVE and its potential, I looked into Bitget pre-market. At a price of just $0.538, it seemed like a calculated risk worth taking. When the token was officially listed, the price shot up, and those early gains got a good return. That said, crypto is a risky game, and I always remind myself not to get swept up in the hype.   For every win, there’s a chance of loss, and that’s why staying informed and investing only what you can afford to lose is crucial. Still, experiences like this keep me excited about exploring new opportunities. Whether it’s $MOVE or the next big thing, doing your research, staying engaged, and being cautious can make all the difference!

    • The recent market dip in $BTC has sparked discussions around whale activity, likely trapping traders before the next significant move upward. Such corrections are common and often serve to reset liquidity, paving the way for stronger gains. With Bitcoin dominance still below 59%, altcoins are seeing opportunities to reclaim ground and potentially exceed previous levels. It's crucial to zoom out and appreciate the long-term growth, as small setbacks often lead to substantial leaps forward. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated $4EVER token is set to debut on BingX with the following schedule: Deposit Time: 2024-12-10, 07:00 (UTC+0) Trading Time: 2024-12-12, 09:00 (UTC+0) Withdrawal Time: 2024-12-13, 09:00 (UTC+0) Don't miss the massive listing carnival pool featuring the 4EVER/USDT trading pair.
