Trading Questions

Hi, i have a few questions regarding an experienced trader's style of trading?

  1. Which is preferable spreadbet or cfd in regards to fees & commissions etc. i think it was mentioned that cfds charge commission when opening stock position but i thought that was only for when you actually buy a stock. In CFD you are not buying the stock just leveraging it so why charge commissions.  so is spreadbet better for frequent trades than cfd?
  2. In either of them, the positions you open do you leave it till end of day or open/close quite frequently?
  3. If you open/close frequently do you not lose out to the spread or is this a better to maximise profits
  4. How soon/amount of profit do you prefer to close a position?
  5. if you leave till end of day or even a few weeks, do you find it better for maximising profits or just the fact you are not chained to the screen as opening/closing takes a lot of time?
  6. I tried a few dummy ones.     A) leaving it open and closed it just before trading finished. I found whatever profits it had made by the middle of day had all disappeared by the end of session.      B) placing a stop loss to prevent profit disappearing. it just closed my positions at a loss as the stop loss had to be placed quite away from my preferred place.    C) opening & closing frequently and watching the screen constantly.    I found C to be best at actually being able to realise the profits but the only problem is constant opening of new positions eats into your profits (due to spread)    So what is a better way?      I suppose it wouldn't be a problem leaving it open but the only thing is especially for indices/other similar leveraged, the fact that you needs funds to cover when it moves against your direction and it can move quite a bit!

So what works for you, any suggestions?

I didn't realised it was such a long post.

Thanks for reading and i look forward to your helpful suggestions.

    • This content is based on my personal opinion and not a financial advise for readers hence ensure you DYOR before investing. Resources: https://www.odaily.news/en/newsflash/380143 No doubt memecoin has seen tremendous adoption over the last 6 with more capital inflowing into the memecoin sector. The artificial intelligence sector and RWA sector is another sector that looks promising but the crazy gains recorded from memecoin in the first quarter of the year might have been the reason for investors to shift their focus to memecoin.  With BTC only managing 48% gain since the beginning of 2024, tokens like WIF, PEPE and floki surged by 1300%, 815% and 392% respectively. Among the top 10 tokens, BGB the native token of Bitget was the only exchange token to find it's way up returning 100% to investors in 6 months. While the second half of the year hold a lot of promise due to anticipation of BTC post halving bullrun, a lot of investors are looking to invest in a tokens with decent ROI potential and memecoin looks the best option to many. Not disputing the crazy gains that might comes with investing in memecoin, the risk of losing it all is also higher especially investing in new memecoins. Considering the continuous growth, expansion and ecosystem development of Bitget, BGB holds a great potential with minimal risk compared to memecoin. Additionally, the entry point is still very great for both new and old investors. What sectors do you think will lead in the bullrun proper? Will memecoin still lead the year or will AI, Gaming, RWA pull a surprise. Share your thoughts.
    • Yeah! I think I would have to agree with you on this as I have benefited a lot from the event this recent times & I have plans of leveraging the event for a long time.
