Can I replace VXX and SVXY with the Volatility Index available on IG?

Glegoo

Question

Hi, I started to follow the strategy offered by tradingmatex.com and they are trading the SVXY. Since this is not available for trading on IG, do you think it is correct to replace that with a short position on the Volatility index available in IG? Is there any better alternative in IG that I can use?

Hi,

Yes, you can short the VIX Index in IG. There are differences between SVXY and VIX Index, they do generally follow the same trend but do not chart exactly the same. Contaigo or backwardisation has more impact on SVXY. To find out more go to: https://www.projectfinance.com/vxx/

Iike to short VIX once it is over 29 and go long 19-22.. I wish IG had SVXY

    • Hi @LiamWhite Thank you for reaching out. We believe there is a risk of Novo Integrated Sciences Inc going OTC soon. It would be difficult for us to offer this on the share dealing at the moment. All the best, OfentseIG
