Hi,

I was under the impression that $APE was a tradable share available on the NYSE.  Can you tell me why it's considered a "complex instrument" by IG and not available to buy online?

Hi @narsufin

Thanks for reaching out.

We are unable to trade this stock. MMTLP.PK is currently restricted by our prime broker Citi. This holding would have to be transferred out of IG to another broker if you want to trade it. All the best, OfentseIG

Thanks for your reply.  I did not ask about MMTLP.PK.

Yesterday I tried to buy $APE on ig.com and received a message saying that "this is a complex instrument" and not tradable online.  Can you please explain why that is, as I understand that it is trading on the NYSE and is considered to be a straight forward equity.

Hi @narsufin

We apologize for the confusion. We have sent you an email to help update your account. Through your share dealing and/or ISA account(s), you may be able to trade Exchange Traded Commodities, Exchange Traded Funds, Listed Investment Funds (such as Investment Trusts, REITs or listed Hedge Funds), or funds domiciled outside the UK and EU.

In some cases these products will embed derivatives, be subject to liquidity constraints or not have sufficient information available for retail clients and therefore expose you to higher risk than trading shares or non-complex products. We suggest you familiarize yourself with the educational material on our website as well as that provided by the issuers of these products.

If you continue to hold these products in your share dealing and/or ISA account(s), or if you open further positions following this warning, we’ll consider that you have acknowledged that trading these products is not appropriate for you, that you wish to proceed nonetheless and that you understand the risks associated with trading these products.

All the best, O.D

Thanks.  I look forward to receiving the email.  My account is set up to buy stocks on US indices and have bought and sold shares on the NYSE a number of times without any issues.

Hi @narsufin

An email was already sent to your registered email address. Please check your inbox. IG continuously reviews the products it offers. It could have been a recent change to the stock. All the best, OfentseIG

My amc $ape shares have disappeared from my isa holdings. Can you explain why this position is no longer visible?

Hi @Dniv

The stock is not ISA eligible. All positions had to be moved to the share dealing account. Please check your linked share dealing account. All the best, OfentseIG

The pity is I cannot get Gann Angles on IG as they are not properly defined as per Gann, and do NOT REMAIN FIXED AT THOSE ANGLES WHEN YOU CHANGE TO ANY TIMEFRAME!!!!!!!! Even the Gann fan angles, used by all brokers, are a joke. These angles are not set arbitrarily as the system allows, and no means to measure angles!!!!
    • Making money through trading involves analyzing markets & making informed decisions. One buys assets at low prices & sells them high.To break it down, traders study charts, news, and economic indicators to spot potential opportunities. They use technical analysis to identify patterns and trends and fundamental analysis to assess the health of a market. Timing is key – traders aim to enter and exit positions at the right moments to maximize profit. Also, there are some tips on how to make money fast – they're out there, and they work. But remember, trading isn't a guaranteed shortcut to quick cash. It takes discipline, risk management, and continuous learning.
    • After a poor finish to last week, Asian markets mostly traded in negative fashion on Monday, though some bargain-hunting in the Nikkei lifted that index off its lows. With major central bank decisions out of the way for the time being, the focus now shifts to the possibility of a government shutdown in the US. House Republicans are making efforts to consider stopgap funding measures to stave off a shutdown. Today's major events include the German IFO index, plus testimony to eurozone lawmakers by ECB president Christine Lagarde.
