  1. Hello, I was running a paper trading algorithm today and two strange things happened, which I don't think I have seen so far. The first thing is that at some point my order gave me the following error: Could not close deal <deal ID>. Reason: ORDER_LOCKED About half an hour later, the market suddenly dropped way below the stop loss that I set, and that was not triggered. Now, I understand that stop losses are never guaranteed but that still seemed strange to me given that I was trading NDX, which has quite high a volume. It also seems like a strange coincidence that the order locking and the stop loss not executing happened at around the same time. I am wondering, what is the explanation for this? I am obviously missing something here so I would appreciate some insight into what else I need to be taking into account. Particularly under what conditions might one's order become locked. Many thanks.
  2. Hi @KoketsoIG, Many thanks for the reply. Do you by any chance know how professional traders deal with this? Paper trading is quite an essential part of developing a strategy so I imagine those that use IG as their main platform must have some ways of testing their strategy. One way I can think of doing it is using a different broker just for paper trading but that can also have its disadvantages I guess because it's a different environment altogether. Kind regards, Miroslav
  3. Hello, I am interested in algorithmic trading on my Stocks and Shares ISA account in IG. However, in terms of paper trading, I can only get access to CFDs and spread betting. How could I best simulate a share trading environment? I have been reading about demo MT4 accounts but as far as I understand these are separate accounts altogether. Could anyone advise on the best course of action? Many thanks.
