  1. Hi Molibar, your futures traders friends are right to laugh at you.

The spread on the ES (in IG US500) increased by a lot (1.0 vs 0.4) although the spreads on the e-mini ES june contract traded on the CME exchange are back to normal values 0.25 bid/ask (last week was 0.75c), yet IG still charge the large spreads. There is no justification for it this time. The IG retail fanboys who never traded a single future contract in their life will tell you this is normal.

  2. Hi Ralph, there is no liquidity in the underlying markets and stops are not being triggered because price didn't trade at your level. If you want your stops to trigger no matter what at a level you should be using guaranteed stops. There is a ton on material explaining this on the IG website and other trading sites.

This is not "unacceptable", it's just how markets actually work.

Same issue here, would like to know why IG is increasing spread of US 500 Cash above and beyond the usual and those stated in their brochures

The spread on the underlying market (Emini ES S&P 500 futures) have increased due to market volatility; On the CME Exchange where these products are traded the spread between Bid/Ask went from 0.25 to 0.50/0.75. It means there are no contracts available to trade at certain levels. Fewer traders are willing to take the risk given the sharp moves and increased margin rates set by the exchange.

IG re-balanced their spreads to reflect these changes. Other brokers increased spreads too but not as much as IG.

  4. Yes that is the correct page. There should be "ProOrders" under the "Disable ProRealtime for ..." buttons. If that's all you can see in that page the procedure is different from here in the UK.

This is how it looks on my screen: https://prntscr.com/rgbzqt

If you drop an email to help-desk they might be able to assist.  helpdesk.us@ig.com

    Good luck

  5. Hi maccam, you need to activate it in your IG account page first before you can use it from PRT. (or at least this is the procedure in the UK)

    1. Log into your account and navigate to "My IG".
    2. Click "Settings" - top of the page.
    3. Click "ProRealTime" - from the menu on the right
    4. You should have ProRealtime already enabled
    5. Click "Enable" under "ProOrder"
    6. Start PRT, it should be now available.
