Key events this week include the monthly US CPI figure and the first reading on UK GDP for the final quarter of 2021. In addition, we get updates from pharmaceutical firms Pfizer, AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline, along with Disney and Uber.

Tuesday
12.30am – Australia NAB business confidence (January): index was -12 in December. Markets to watch: AUD crosses
1.30pm – US trade balance (December): deficit to rise to $82 billion. Markets to watch: USD crosses
11.30pm – Australia Westpac consumer confidence (February): previous reading 102.2. Markets to watch: AUD crosses
Wednesday
7am – German trade balance (December): surplus to fall to €10.8 billion. Markets to watch: EUR crosses
3.30pm – US EIA crude oil inventories (w/e 4 February): stockpiles fell by 1 million barrels in the previous week. Markets to watch: Brent, WTI
Thursday
1.30pm – US CPI (January), initial jobless claims (w/e 5 February): prices to rise 7.2% YoY and 0.4% MoM. Core CPI to rise 5.9% and 0.5% respectively. Claims to fall to 230K from 238K. Markets to watch: US indices, USD crosses
Friday
7am – UK GDP (Q4, preliminary): growth to be 6.6% YoY and 1.2% QoQ. Markets to watch: GBP crosses
3pm – US Michigan consumer confidence (February, preliminary): index to rise to 67.5. Markets to watch: USD crosses
